- ➤ Shepherd's Hand Community Outreach Center is hosting free Mom + Me sessions twice a month for mothers with children aged 0 to 4. The next session is on Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in Fort Wayne where attendees enjoy toys, books, coffee and storytime. WFFT-TV
- ➤ Inspire Neighborhoods Conference is accepting speaker and award applications for its 2026 event scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11 at Electric Works on Swinney Avenue. Speaker applications are due by March 31 and award nominations by June 30 — the event will highlight neighborhood resilience. WFFT-TV

- ➤ SACS celebrated its 11th annual Taste of Homestead on Feb. 12, with students saying the event showcased the diverse cultures at Southwest Allen County Schools + local traditions. WFFT-TV

- ➤ Northwest Allen County Schools is preparing to staff Willow Creek Middle School — set to open this August for about 700 students from nearby elementary areas — with five teaching roles and four support positions approved by the board. The Journal Gazette
- ➤ A Fort Wayne music teacher, Alex Whitehead (at Jefferson Middle School) has been named one of Yamaha's 40 under 40 outstanding music educators, becoming the first from northeast Indiana as his band program grew by over 50% to serve more than 350 students. The Journal Gazette

- ➤ Kody Tinnel was named the first recipient of the new Heart of the City award during the Mayoral State of the City Address in Fort Wayne, recognizing his work cofounding a non-profit that plants trees and improves local neighborhoods. WFFT-TV
- ➤ The City of Fort Wayne is accepting speaker and award applications for its Inspire Neighborhoods Conference with deadlines on March 31 and June 30. - ➤ A state Senate committee discussed changes on a casino relocation bill Wednesday that may create a new casino license and limit new sites to three counties including Allen, but it sent the unchanged bill to the Appropriations Committee for a vote by Feb. 19. The Journal Gazette
