  • Special Olympics Indiana hosted its annual Fort Wayne Polar Plunge Saturday at Metea County Park, marking 27 years of fundraising as participants raised at least $125 each for the cause. The 2026 plunge season continues through March 7 across the state.  WOWO
  • Fuller Plants LLC held a fundraiser in memory of its owner’s late veteran brother, donating 36% of earnings to Shepherd’s House for veterans facing homelessness + an anonymous donor committed to matching the contribution, raising over $800 in total.  WOWO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • QuikTrip plans its first Fort Wayne gas station on a 10-acre site at Elderberry Drive near Coldwater Road. The project will include a convenience store with QT Kitchen offerings (coffee, muffins, subs, pizza) and a 10-foot buffer serving traffic at the Coldwater Road and Oakbrook Parkway light.  21Alive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Indiana Department of Education is urging schools and community organizations to join the 2026 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide free meals to children in rural areas and regions with many migrant farm workers. The application deadline is Thursday, April 30.  WFFT-TV
  • Senate Bill 88 expanded required good citizenship instruction by adding requirements for high school graduation, full-time work, and waiting until marriage to have children; it passed the Senate 39-9 on Thursday, Jan. 29 and now goes to the House.  WFFT-TV
