  • Humane Fort Wayne has taken in 25 dogs from a rescue in northeastern Indiana after officials uncovered severe neglect and abuse — 18 of which have already found new homes — while the accused faces 12 felony animal cruelty charges.  WOWO

  • Northwest Allen County Schools has launched an education foundation to help fund classroom programs and community events for its 8,300 students — Superintendent Wayne Barker said plans include forming a board and scheduling volunteer-led events to strengthen the district.  The Journal Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana State Police are reminding motorists to move over when emergency vehicles flash lights after 10 trooper vehicles were struck statewide this week — ISP Sgt. Wes Rowlader said road conditions, high speeds, and distracted driving are mainly to blame and no troopers were seriously hurt.  21Alive
  • City Utilities lowered the St. Marys River on Friday to allow crews to inspect a pipe near Berry and Nelson streets — work that will continue for two weeks before the river returns to its recreational level.  US 93.3
  • Crews repaired an eight-inch water main leak at Main and Broadway in Butler, finishing work at about 3 a.m. Friday. The fix restored a five-foot blown-out section of the main, city officials said (Mayor Mike Hartman confirmed the repair).  KPC News
  • Fort Wayne received a $10,000 grant from the U.S. Conference of Mayors at its winter meeting to boost local economic mobility. Mayor Sharon Tucker said the funding will support the Community Schools Career Academy by expanding hands-on learning for future construction trades.  21Alive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Thousands of grocery items are being recalled after rodent + bird droppings were found at a distributor facility that stored products like Pringles and Cheerios. The recall affects items distributed in Indiana, North Dakota, and Minnesota, and no illnesses have been reported so far.  US 93.3
  • Local health groups partnered on a 60-second PSA to address vaccine confusion amid recent rollbacks in immunization recommendations. The campaign includes a fundraiser (goal: $45,000 by end of Feb) to help local parents access reliable vaccine guidance.  KPC News
