- ➤ Trine University Health Science Association raised $2,500 for Kate’s Kart during its annual Homecoming 5K + program assistant Jennifer Nixon accepted the donation check, and the funds will provide new books for hospitalized children and families across the region. KPC News
- ➤ This week, the Community Foundation awarded five local nonprofits $5,000 general operating grants to recognize growth under its vision pillars for healthy mind & body, lifelong learning, connected community, everyone’s economy & inspiring places. - ➤ Superintendent Mark Daniel said the foundation is still evaluating a $15 million early learning center project while now considering child care scholarships to help student parents and their children—an approach spurred by state funding challenges and a need for immediate support. - ➤ The city begins utility relocation on Hillegas Road this spring as part of its plan to expand the road to five lanes between Coliseum and West State. Road construction will start in 2027 with improvements to ease traffic, enhance drainage, and add sidewalks until the project finishes by the end of 2029. WFFT-TV
- ➤ The Indiana Senate passed Senate Bill 88 yesterday to require schools to teach that a high school diploma, full-time employment and waiting until marriage help avoid poverty (part of a 'Success Sequence' strategy). The bill now heads to the House for further review. 21Alive
