EDUCATION NEWS

  • Edgewood Middle School students and Grace College engineers built a 3D-printed prosthetic hand for Owen Lewis, a Warsaw student with a limb difference. The team is producing four sizes—two for immediate use and two for future growth—to support his needs while sparking local STEM interest.  The Journal Gazette
  • Public schools will serve whole milk again due to the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act signed on Jan. 14, giving kids fats vital for brain growth. Local dairy producer Nathan Kuehnert praises the move (USDA will soon issue guidance for its implementation).  US 93.3

  • Johnny TinCap introduces a Valentine’s Day Package available until Tuesday, Feb. 10 that includes 2 game tickets, a stuffed TinCaps Teddy Bear, bouquet, and photo with delivery scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13 at Parkview Field; season tickets for the 2026 opener on Tuesday, April 7 are on sale.  US 93.3
  • Four Fort Wayne athletes will join IU’s Spirit Squad in Miami tonight at Hard Rock Stadium for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. They will cheer on the Hoosiers as they face the Miami Hurricanes.  WFFT-TV
  • Former Bishop Luers star DeShaun Thomas returned Saturday for a surprise jersey retirement ceremony held before the game against Blackhawk Christian. The school will display his #1 jersey in the new Knights Hall of Fame expansion that honors his high school legacy (including two state championships).  WFFT-TV
